Cognizant Acquires Contino

Contino, a leading global technical consultancy, is delighted to announce that it has been acquired by Cognizant, one of the world’s leading professional services companies.

The official Cognizant press release can be read here.

At a time when DevOps, cloud and data are gaining critical momentum in the enterprise, the combined expertise of Cognizant and Contino will bring a new set of capabilities to clients seeking to digitally transform their enterprise.

Building the Future Together

Contino is one of the world’s leading enterprise DevOps, cloud and data transformation consultancies, having developed its own unique approach to driving genuine digital transformation in highly-regulated industries.

Since it was founded in 2014 by Matt Farmer and Benjamin Wootton, Contino’s consulting and engineering teams have completed more than 200 engagements with over 100 of the world’s largest brands, including Adidas, Allianz, Barclays, Dow Jones, JetStar, Morgan Stanley, National Australia Bank and Vodafone, among others.

Contino has had tremendous success over the past four years. Its rapid growth and reputation as an excellent place to work have earned Contino recognition by LinkedIn as a “Top 25 Startup” in 2018 and 2019.

Contino’s success has been driven in large part by its innovative operating model and dynamic culture. The entire organisation is aligned into ‘squads’. Each squad contains representatives from across the business, including engineering, consulting, marketing, finance, people and talent management. Their goal is to collaboratively apply their diverse skill sets to an engagement in order to deliver a deep transformation program that results in more than just a technical outcome.

New capabilities, skills and mutual customer opportunities arising from this partnership will allow both organisations to take advantage of the growing global opportunity.

“We look forward to welcoming Contino’s talented team to Cognizant,” said Brian Humphries, CEO of Cognizant, in a news release issued on 16 October 2019. “The DevOps approach to cloud migration, core modernisation and cloud security is reshaping how enterprises in all industries are building their infrastructures. This new set of holistic cloud capabilities from Contino will enable us to offer and more readily deploy transformative cloud-based solutions.”

The acquisition will enable Contino to rapidly scale its operations whilst maintaining its experienced leadership team, established operating model and unique culture. This strategic move will help Contino to continue delivering on its mission of helping clients innovate at speed and execute at scale.

Matt Farmer, Contino Co-Founder and CEO, commented in the news release: “We are thrilled to be joining an organization that shares our rich expertise in cloud technologies, DevOps, digital engineering, and data analytics. Our focus has always been on supporting the enterprise and their transformation using our ‘squad model.’ With this approach, we support our enterprise clients at every step, from engineering through to communicating the benefits of their journey, all for ultimate success.”

Ben Wootton, Contino Co-Founder and CTO also commented: “Our success to date has been built on a laser-like focus on our customers, going above and beyond to deliver work that exceeds their expectations. I’m really looking forward to joining the wider Cognizant team and continuing in this spirit to accelerate genuine digital transformation in the wider market that we are now a part of.”
